October 24, 2009 is the 64th birthday of the United Nations. Delegates from 50 of the world's countries, large and small, strong and weak, and in different stages of political and social development, worked together to develop the U. N. Charter. They envisioned an organization which would preserve peace, advance justice and be a permanent structure for international cooperation.

National Milo Little Olympics

The first National MILO Little Olympics will be conducted in Cebu City on October 22-26, 2009. Specific venue is in Cebu City Sports Center.

Contingents will be coming from different places all over the Philippines.

Competing clusters are Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and NCR.

According to PAG-ASA, the public weather forecast issued today, October 6, 2009 @ 5:00, valid from 5:00 am to 5:00 am tomorrow:

At 4:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "PEPENG" {PARMA} was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 170 kms North Northwest of Laoag City (19.8°N, 120.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. It is forecast to remain almost stationary. Meanwhile, Typhoon "QUEDAN" {MELOR} was located at 910 km East Northeast of Basco, Batanes (21.9°N, 131.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 205 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph. It is forecast to move North Northwest at 26 kph.
